"Tech neck" ,as it is called in the media, is a common postural distortion referred to accurately as upper cross syndrome. Chiropractors have been treating upper cross syndrome or "tech neck" for much longer than any other healthcare providers.
Upper cross syndrome is actually one of the most common root causes for all neck and upper back pain. The postural distortion is caused by a pattern of tight muscles and weak muscles. The tight muscles are located on the back of the neck and include the upper trapezius, and sub occipitals as well as on the chest (pectoral is muscles). The weak muscles are the deep neck Flexors and the muscles in between the shoulder blades (lower trapezius, rhomboids and serratus anterior).
To address the common postural pattern we need to strengthen the weak muscles and stretch the tight muscles.
